Mold in the Crawl Space
Crawl spaces are often overlooked areas in a home, although, they provide important functions to your property. Mold in a crawl space is common in Indiana and can be an unpleasant situation. Being right beneath your feet, the mold easily contaminates the air inside your home and poses a health risk. Crawl space mold can deteriorate wood sub flooring and wooden joists.
Before starting the remediation process, we will help find the source of, and a solution to the problem. Once the decision is made to remediate the mold we will don a Tyvec suit and respirator designed to block mold. An on-contact mold killer is sprayed on all mold and removed. After all mold is gone, a mold and mildew resistant paint is applied to all cleaned surfaces. This paint helps prevent any new mold growth.
Indiana code requires a minimum 6mil moisture barrier on the crawl space floor. If there is not a vapor barrier installed, or it is old, ripped/torn, or not working correctly, we will replace. If there is standing water in the crawl space, a French/tile drain with a sump pump may need to be installed.
